1940's look

I was recently watching the Notebook the other day (for the 100th time, despite needing to revise) and I was really paying attention to what Allie (Rachel McAdams) was wearing. I recently wrote a post on clothes from the 1950's so I thought I'll put a post about another beautiful era: the 1940's. The 1940's had a more classic and sophisticated look, with its clothes still looking good today. Accessories were also becoming more popular, such as small hats and gloves.

CandySays does some amazing vintage clothing and accessories and really is worth checking out.
Friends of the Forties is also a great place to check out anything 1940's and lists the best places to buy clothes from from that era.
You can also get great vintage accessories at Michelles Vintage Jewellery.

I love the way the dresses look and love the the pastel colours on them as well.

I believe that I was meant to live in the 1940's. I appreciated the looks of that time very much. All the women were sophisticated, and the men were dapper. Okay, I'm having a nostalgic moment. :)

Oohhh I loved the 1940s, the fashions were so flattering to women (the curves anyway, not so sure about the skirt lengths!!!!!). And they're quite underrated really, given most "vintagistas" tendencies towards the 1950s or 1920s.
