Preppy

I've recently gotten into the really preppy look. I love how everything is so polished and well put together.

Clothes:

I love the clothes in this look. They're so neat and adorable to wear. Although, when making the set below, I did find that clothes for this style can easily be found with school uniforms. Polo shirts and plaid are also very wearable for this style. As are cute cardigans and blazers.

Accessories:

Jewellery:
Be really subtle with the jewellery. Stick to small pearl earrings/necklaces or small diamonds on your earrings, bracelets or necklaces. If you're sticcking to something classy and elegand, try to go for diamonds and pearls. I know these are really, really expensive, so you could buy something expensive once and wear it forever, or do what I do and 'borrow' a classy pice of jewellery from your mum/gran.

Bags:
Large tote bags are perfect. They fit everything in them and are really stylish.

Shoes:
There are loads of shoes you can wear that will go well with this look. Oxford Style shoes, ballet flats and gorgeous high heels are great to get that feminine style. But for everyday, you can also go for a cool pair of Vans, flip flops or boat shoes ('Sperry Top-Siders').

Hair and Make up:

The preppy hair and make up is definitely my favourite part of this look. The preppy look s all about keeping it natural and fresh faced.

Hair: A cute ponytail, with a cute bow is perfect. Think Blair with all the headbands and hairstyles. Ribbons are also good.

Make Up: It is all about staying fresh faced and wearing as little make up as possible. You want to keep your face as clean and natural as possible. For everyday wear, a litle bit of concealer under your eyes, a bit of mascara and some light coloured blush should be more than enough.

What do you guys think of this look? What looks do all of you currently like?

Love the preppy style (and watching gossip girl only makes my adoration for it worse!), although I only really started liking it after I stopped having to actually wear a school uniform!

Currently I am loving anything inspired by the circus and ballerinas (but that may just be because I have a new pink skirt!)

I love those pieces! And while I feel comfortable in some, too far into a preppy look and I feel like I am wearing a costume. Just not altogether me. But plaid anything definitely IS!

This look is so pretty and definitely one I like to pull off once in a while, especially in the spring. I feel like the pastel pinks and pearls and flats are perfect when the flowers are blooming and the leaves on the trees are turning green. :)

You're so right about the basic accessories and studs. You found some really great items, clever post!

I love preppy style and your choices are great. Especially preppy shoes and shirts, but I do like to mix it up with non-preppy hair (and sometimes accessories too)

I admire preppy style but I can't do it justice as I have a strong adversion to anything that must be kept neat and always looking crisp. I'm not sloppy just I crave wearibility in my style. I like to borrow styles like oxfords, cardigans, and pearls from the preppy style but mix it with casual pieces.

I adore this look - very Blair Waldorf. I'm not one to embrace preppy style; I'm more into changing my look on a daily basis. I go with how I feel when I wake up in the morning, I suppose. :)

I love the preppy look. It is exactly as you said: it keeps it fresh and natural. And sometimes that is just what I need!

I love preppy too! It's probably my second "go-to" look (after my natural instinct of rock chick!).

The only reason I watch Gossip Girl is for the fashion and beauty. I love Blair's makeup, and Jenny, Serena, and Blair's sense of style!

I am perpetually preppy. People tease me about it.

But it's classic and never goes out of style.

great tips. i've never been a huge fan of the preppy look but some people pull it off so well. no harm in experimenting with preppy+hard edge...

I don't wear the preppy look that often just because I am more of a vintage and feminine gal, but I love the look. I especially like the plaid colored look, and everything you just described is very true! Minimal makeup and jewelry are key, cute clothing you have up as example too!

I'd go for preppy anytime. It's a simple look but classy. Those polyvore sets are so much fun to look at!

I need a piped blazer asap!
