Hello Blogisphere!

...written by Sherin

Hi Everyone!
Hope you've been enjoying my scheduled posts. I'm still on holiday but I thought I'd write a post updating all of you with what I've been upto while on holiday. Qatar is such a lovely country and I've been having a great time exploring it and learning all about it.
I did think that the culture here was like that of Dubai's, but it is a bit more conservative. I wish I knew that before I packed because my shorts and skirts do look out of place. The majority of locals (men and women) are very covered up, with many women even in veils. That's why I'm covering up as well as I can. I'm wearing tights and am wearing my skirts and cropped combats longer than I normally would.

It is, however, BOILING here. Tempratures are hitting the mid-40's celsius (over 110 Farenheit), so I am limited on when I can actually go out, and there is no way that I can relax on the beaches. I am very intrigued by my Vichy UV bracelet though. It changes colour depending on the amount of UV rays hitting it. It turns very dark purple when the sun is very strong, letting me know that thats when I should get out of the sun!

I have been spending a lot of time going to the huge shopping malls here. They are usually freezing, woth the air conditioning on full, but nonetheless are really fun to go to. My favourite shopping centre here is called the Villagio and it is based on Venice. It has a canal running through it, with adorable shop fronts. It also has literally, every shop: from H&M, Boots and even a Virgin Megastores.

As a shopoholic, I also had to go to the local markets. I love markets in different countries and they're always such an experience! I went to the Souk Waqif and it was amazing. Although relatively new, it was designed to look really traditional, with old looking buildings and shops in a kind of maze. It was definitely somewhere I could imagine Aladdin wandering. The market seriously sold everything: from food, pets, homeware, clothes and even touristy things such as Arab bobble heads (which I had to buy!)

After I get back (on Friday), I'll do a post on what I've bought and all the touristy things I've done.

Sherin xx

It´s good to know that you´re having a great time in Qatar, Sherin! Can´t wait to see your shopping loot and too bad about the very conservative dressing in there. I´d definitely suffocate in the 40+ C heat!
