I'm going to go off-topic again and this time talk about music. It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE music and to me, nothing compares to live music. It really is something special to hear the song that you love being sung live by an awesome band.
A while back, I went to see 'Young Guns' live. They're not a massive band (yet), but they are incredible. They've just released their first album (which is brilliant, by the way) and this was their first major tour. Their album 'All Our Kings are Dead' is definitely my favourite album of the year so far (Gaslight Anthem's 'American Slang' is a close second). I got tickets ages ago, which were remarkably cheap, and an even bigger plus side was that the venue is very close to my house, so naturally I bought tickets as soon as they were released.
The not-so-clever thing I did was to book my holiday for just before and plan to come back a few hours before the gig. The flight was delayed and there was a lot of traffic on the way home, which gave me 10 minutes to get ready before I had to meet Marilena (you all know who she is by now). This means that my outfit was very quickly out together and not outfit post worthy.
(This is what I look like very excited: with my gig ticket just being signed!)
The supporting acts were pretty amazing and pumped us up. Young Guns came on stage and did a fantastic set. It was a relatively small gig (and venue), so it really had that intimate feel to it. Many bands aren't as good live, or don't know how to interact with the audience, but Young Guns did everything perfectly. The lead singer (Gustav) knew exactly what to do and worked the crowd so well. Everyone was jumping around, having a great time, and the energy on stage was out of this world and so intense.
Considering my state, going home should have been the rational choice for me, but we decided to stay at the venue a little longer and try to meet the guys (ok, I know this is stalking, but we weren't the only ones who did it, lol).
Anyway, we were definitely in luck. First, the drummer, Ben, came out, and he was so nice. I got his autograph and managed to get a picture. He was quite sweaty, but hey: I didn't mind.
Next, we spotted Simon, the very hot bassist, and naturally rushed over. He was really nice as well, and again, managed to get a picture and an autograph. Isn't he just so cute?? And personally, I think we'd make a great couple, hehe.
And not too long after, Gus, the lead singer, came out. He is gorgeous, so after the initial shock of seeing him close up, I rushed over. And this is where it became rough. There were loads of girl crowding him and it seemed impossible that anyone would manage to get to talk to him properly. But a (not very good) queue was formed, and we got to him. He was so sweet and cool to talk to, and he even gave me a hug (I know, I sound like an infactuated girl, lol). This picture does not do him justice, he really is gorgeous (google him: Gustav Wood)!
So how about you: are you a gigging fan?
