My First London Fashion Week + Paul Costelloe SS2011 (Photo Heavy)

London Fashion Week officially kicked off on Friday, with the first show being Paul Costelloe, at 9am. The night before, I was offered a ticket to the show, by Vitamin Water, and I could hardly say no now, could I? So, I text my boss to let her know I'd be late and prepared myself for a long day.

I got to Somerset House at 8am and I was really scared and intimidated. It was my first time and I had no idea what to do. I was slightly put at ease the second I walked in, when a guy ran up to me and asked to photograph my shoes. The great thing is that the shoes were only £7 from a New Look sale - see, you can still look glamorous on a budget.

So, I picked up my passes, got my Paul Costelloe invite from the lovely Vitamin Water Crew and went to stand in the queue. It was about 45 minutes before the show was to begin, so I was really near the front of the queue. By the time it was time to get in, I looked behind me and saw that the queue went on for ages.

Anyway, I got in, got my pretty amazing seats and prepared for the show to start. The SS11 Paul Costelloe collection was amazing.
Sorry the pictures aren't the best (i.e. have a random head/shoulder in them. I'm trying to use more of my pictures than others, as best I can, for all the posts I do).

Paul Costelloe closed his show remarkably. Paul Costelloe's 6 sons came out, modelling the collection, and it was a sight to be seen. They were all absolutely gorgeous and I was in utter awe of them. So much so, that I couldn't take a picture of them (lucky the photographers had their senses, so I easily found a picture online). Can all guys please dress like this or can I marry one of them please?

I quite like the quintessential British style, especially on men, and Paul Costelloe really did a great job capturing that look.

Personally, I thought this collection was a great way to kick off LFW. The clothes were perfect and look really cool for summer. I spotted a few maxi dresses, and I'm glad this trend is back next season, along with cropped leather jackets. I also really loved the metallic/silver dresses. I think they'll be really fun to wear next season. This summer it was the 'little white dress', so the 'little silver dress' was bound to be a trend at some point! The last bit of the collection (which I didn't photograph very well) contained a lot of pinks and pastel colours: perfect for the Spring.
Finally, my favourite 2 trends will be back: shorts dresses/skirts and very high heels.

Fab pics, Sherin. I'm so disappointed I didn't catch up with you - next time for sure! Feeling really lousy now with the 'fashion flu' that everybody seemed to be coming down with (sob). xx
