I went to see Young Guns over the summer and they were fantastic, so I decided to go and see them live again, and they definitely lived upto my expectations. And again, I was completely jet-lagged as I'd flown in the day before. I decided to take my friend Mo, who'd never been to gig before, and he was in for a treat! It was funny watching his face as a crowd surfer jetted by overhead.
The gig was at the Camden Barfly and awesomely enough, we bumped into a few of the guys from the band on our way to the venue, from the station!
The first supporting band was the Japanese Voyeurs. I hadn't heard of them before, but they were actually pretty good. And they had a female lead singer. I think many of you agree when I say that there needs to be waaaay more females in rock: Girl Power all the way! But they were really cool and lead singer, Romily, had a really unique sound to her.
Second supporting act were The Swellers. I'd heard of them before and was a slight fan, but they turned me into a true fan. Hailing from the US, and having toured with some pretty big bands, they were absolutely incredible. They had a great sound and really pumped us all up with their energy on stage. I also got to meet all 4 of them afterwards, and they were all really nice guys.
Then the reason we were all there, Young Guns, came on stage and they were fantastic and as good, if not better, than they were last time I went. They have such a genuine sound to them and the lyrics to some of the songs are so true and personal. I know I'm not the only fan to say that their music and lyrics have gotten me through some hard times.
Although I didn't get to meet the guys from Young Guns again, I did, however, manage to meet all the very attractive guys from The Swellers and some of Japanese Voyeurs.
Unfortunately my immune system couldn't actually handle going out in the cold, so at the time of writing, I am sitting in bed with a nasty cough and a heavy fever :(. Totally worth it though!!
P.S. I did take 400+ photos from the gig, so narrowing it down for a post has been pretty hard!
