Maroon 5

Earlier this month, I satisfied the needs of my 16 year old and went to see Maroon 5 live, at the Brixton Academy. Rachel and I bought tickets way back in September, so excitement for the gig was really building up these last few months.

Rachel came over around midday, and after grabbing a bit of lunch, we headed over to Brixton, to make sure we were near the front of the queue. We got there at about 4.30, and doors were due to open at 7, so we were in the queue for quite some time. We were lucky though; we got into a priority queue because of the phone network I'm on (o2), although no one actually checked which phone network I was on. Time did pass quickly though. There was a Nandos right opposite, so I went on a Nandos run, and we also befriended 2 amazing girls, who were in the queue behind us. We discussed everything from Gossip Girl (a general consesus was that Serena needs to leave and that Nate needs a proper storyline) to politics.

Finally at 7, we got in. Security was really tight, and for some reason they took away any decent, professional cameras that anyone had. It was a shame because Rachel, along with many others, had bought along incredible cameras. Mine just about got through and I think it was probably the biggest camera that did. But Rachel did make the most of it and took some amazing shots with my camera.

Queuing up for hours before paid off as we were literally right at the front. The Brixton Academy is one of the biggest venues that I've been to in a while, and when I looked back at 9pm, there were thousands of people behind us.

Supporting act, Sara Bareilles was breathtaking. I'd only found out that she was supporting a few hours before and had only heard of 'Love Song', but my did she take my world by storm. She has such a powerful, emotional voice and I even got goosebumps during her last song. She gave such a powerful performance and there were even tears in the audience. I really couldn't believe how strong her voice was. I will definitely be going through her back catalogue now.

Maroon 5 came on at 9, to a lot of shrieks, and Adam Levine oozed sex throughout the show. I have to say, these guys are very talented. I tweeted that the band definitely knew how to play their instruments, and understandably, that was a bit ambigious. But I did genuinely meant that they knew what they were doing while on stage. I know they're a band that have around for a while, so understandably, they were fantastic on stage. The drummer, Matt Flynn, was exquisite and guitarist, James Valentine, was world class.
The guys definitely put on a show to remember, and sung new songs alongside some old favourites. Songs About Jane is probably still one of my all time albums, so to finally see some of my old favourite songs live was amazing. Harder To Breathe and The Sun were my favourites from the album, so you can imagine my happiness when both were performed.

Adam Levine definitely knows what he's doing on stage and knew exactly how to get the crowd going. He bought out a camera at one point, to record everyone, and even took a girl's phone and called up her bf to tell him that she loved him. Seriously good stuff.
