Styling Accessories

While at the Next Press Day last week, we were given a goody bag with floral sunglasses and a scarf, and were all asked to style them up in our unique little ways.

I thought I'd take my look down the 50's route with this 50's style Polka Dot dress from Tesco, and a pair of nautical wedges from New Look. I tied the scarf around my head and added the sunglasses to finish the look.

Thanks mum for getting the dirty towels in the picture!

Does the dress vaguely resemble a school uniform? I think it was similar to my primary school one. I would compare with a picture, but I think I burnt them all, lol. Either way, I do love the dress and I'll most likely get a lot of wear out of it this summer (when summer eventually comes.)

Also, I got my hair cut! I got a few inches off and it's shorter than I've had it for a while. There's still a bit of the colour at the bottom, but this is probably my perfect length. Although, it'll get shorter when I wash it and the curls come in.

What do you think? How would you style the sunglasses and scarf?

I don't think anything could ever compare to the school uniform I've almost just left behind, but my first school had sailor dresses as girls summer uniform. It was cute at 5 or 6, but at 13? So glad I left that place at the age of 10. I'll never be able to wear anything that resembles a sailor dress ever again!

Your school uniform was polka dot? Kind of jealous, mine was a knee length plaid skirt and a button down oxford shirt! I love this tesco dress and I think you did a good job with the styling challenge. Also, this post made me laugh a lot--the commentary was hilarious!

You look a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!

I really like the sunglasses frames. The dress would look great with the skirt shorter, perhaps tucking it into a belt.

The dress is cute, I do like a polka dot sun dress. I don't think it looks like a uniform at all.
I think I'd have to style the glasses with simple white t-shirt and jeans combo - but then I do like my jeans so that's no surprise!

SO cute! The dress doesn't remind me of a school uniform at all. It looks perfect on you! The bow and the sunglasses are the best accessories, I think. And I have to say, I love your hair in these photos. I adore it when it's curly, but it looks extra chic straight like this!

I think the dress looks really pretty and nothing compared to the old summer dresses I used to wear to school, so you're safe there! I love the 50's theme, I always have, you look lovely and I hope you found the link helpful. I'd enter if you wanted to, I think the prizes were pretty prestigious. Good luck! xxx

I just love this dress- paired with those floral sunglasses, it makes a perfect retro-inspired summer look! But then again, I didn't have to wear a uniform to school, so I don't have any particular problem with navy dresses :)

Wow, what a fun outfit! With sunglasses and scarves, you can't help but think something like this. I would probably style it quite similarly!

You look lovely as always, I love your hair cut! and if your uniform looked like this then that was a very stylish uniform. Back in my private school days, my uniform was a green and white checkered shift dress, with a white shirt under, and a green tie, if I remember correctly... not the most flattering thing... especially not in that shade of green haha!

I am gaga for polka dots and in fact wrote a whole blog on it. You look as cute as the polka dots! The Japanese artist, Madam Kusama paints only polka dots. You should check her work out.

I love the way you've styled this! I must say I love a headscarf so I think I'd go for a similar fifties look but with high waisted jeans and a midriff tie shirt.X
