Something a bit more traditional

Firstly how gorgeous did Kate look yesterday! She was seriously stunning. I was seriously glued to the TV all day. If you missed it, I'm sure tons of other bloggers will be blogging about her dress (which was McQueen). I was glued to the TV all day and even got teary at several points.

I don't know whether it's because I've recently gotten home from Pakistan, or that I've just been invited to my Indian neighbours wedding, but I'm in a bit of a traditional mood.
I still love my jeans and tee's and wear them like everyday, but sometimes it's nice to have a change, and to switch it up a bit.

Photobucket

I've recently discovered Sareez, which specialise in more traditional attire and have just fallen in love with all their glamorous sari's.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Basically a sari is a traditional South Asian outfit. It's a long piece of cloth that can be worn in many different ways. They also come in a wide range of different colours, patterns, styles and materials, and are usually wrapped around the body, in many different ways, with a made to measure cropped blouse underneath. It is a piece that, traditionally, has been around for thousands of years and always looks so elegant and beautiful.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Some of the more dressy ones come with a lot of embellisments and embroidery, with a lot of different colours or in silk, and because it's one size fits all, you can really make it work for your body type. For example, pear shaped women can wear them by shifting focus to the upper body. They can wear bolder prints and wear darker shades.
Those with an apple shaped figue can wear a V shaped neck blouse instead of the traditional round neck.
Finally, slimmer women can get really heavy sari's, with tissue or organza, and can wear them very low at the waist.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I am by no means an expert, especially since I don't own one, but I'd love your opinions.

Would you ever wear one? Does anyone own one? If not...well, lets just say that at some point soon, there is an interesting collaboration going on between myself and Sareez. Be prepared!

Outfit: Dinner with Friends

Happy Royal Wedding Day!! I was going to write something weddingy, but I figured that there'd be millions upon trillions of posts on the Royal Wedding, so I thought I'd leave you with an outfit instead.

Photobucket

This is what I wore while having dinner with some old university friends. Since graduating university, we've all gone our separate ways, so it's that much harder to find time to hang out. We all decided to make an effort and met up for dinner a while back. I wore this Boohoo dress (thanks for the vouchers, boohoo) and New Look Heels. I really love the way this dress fits and I love the colours. They matched my hair really well!

Photobucket

We went to the Hare and Tortoise Restaurant, in Bloomsbury, near Russell Square Station. The food was quite good. I loved the Springrolls, but I didn't enjoy the noodles as I got a splinter in my finger from the chop sticks!!! But the food was good and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Photobucket

It was really nice to catch up with old friends and we had a great evening. I definitely need to make more of an effort when meeting old friends. I think it'd been over a year since we all hung out together.

Baci Lingerie

I've worked with Lingerie Please before, so I was over the moon when they offered to send me some pieces from the brand, Baci.

They sent me a black bra and black lace briefs and both were extremely gorgeous and such classic pieces. I'm a firm believe that black lingerie is a must for every girl. I know no one can see it, but you feel so confident and sophisticated in such classic items.

The bra felt great. The padding at the front was so comfortable and the lace at the back gave it a sexier feel to it. I wore it all day and it fit perfectly, and was really comfortable. This is a perfect t-shirt bra and a casual black bra is such a necessity to have. They're perfect to wear under sheer tops for all day comfort.

Photobucket

When I took the underwear out of the packaging, my first reaction was 'woah'. It was seriously one of the softest things I've ever touched. It felt amazing. I prefer briefs like this than any other type of underwear, and the fact that it was lace gave it double points. This is probably the softest underwear I now have and would recommend it to everyone. You can not feel bloaty or anything if you're wearing something as fabulous and chic as this.

Baci lingerie specialise in a lot of really sexy and glamorous lingerie. A lot of the styles are so stunning and look like so much fun to wear.

Do you like wearing pretty lingerie, or do you think it makes no difference? For me, wearing pretty and matching lingerie, makes me feel really special.

Rosalita McGee

White dresses are a must for this (or any) summer. They are the perfect summer alternative to LBD's and always look so sophisticated.
When Spanish designer, Rosalita McGee offered to send me something from the SS11 collection, I knew I had to pick this white dress.

Photobucket
Photobucket

I decided to add a silk black belt to make the dress more fitting and paired it with pink flats (Baratts). The dress is cotton and so light to wear, making it perfect for the summer. London has been absolutely beautiful lately, soI'm practicvally living in dresses.

Photobucket

Rosalita McGee do really nice, quirky pieces, that would be a lot of fun to wear. A lot of the pieces are colourful and have a real youthful and happy spirit to them. The pieces are all so fresh and the pretty colours and patterns are all so fun.

Here are a few of my favourites from the collection.

What do you think of Rosalite McGee? So perfect for the summer, right?

A Pakistani Engagement

So, this will be the last of my holiday posts, and I thought I'd end it with what I wore to my cousin's engagement, which is by far one of my favourite all time outfits. Pakistani engagements are usually almost as big as weddings themselves, so it was the perfect excuse to dress up (especially since I was just recovering from food poisoning).
Photobucket

I bought the dress from London, but it was pretty unwearable, as it had no back, or proper sleeves, so it wouldn't stay up at all. I took it to Pakistan in the hopes of doing something to it and making it more wearable. My aunt did an amazing job adding a bit of material to the back, so that I could wear it more.
Photobucket

I didn't know about the engagement before I came so I had a tailor quickly whip up these skinny trousers from a black satin material that I bought, and voila: perfect outfit (it would have been very inappropriate to wear the dress without the trousers in Pakistan).

Photobucket

That's me with the bride-to-be. Because weddings are still mainly set up by families, traditionally, the boys side buys the outfit for the girl, with matching jewellery, shoes and a bag.

I did my signature straight at top, curly at bottom hairstyle that I do a lot. All my relatives really loved it and there was actually a queue of cousins and aunts wanting me to re-create the look on them (which I wasn't 100% happy with), and then I got annoyed when one aunt said I was doing it wrong. Don't judge me for this next bit though: I did their hair, but failed to mention the immense about of product that I'd added to mine. So while their hair straightened within a few hours, mine lasted the whole night. And then when asked why mine had lasted, I just shrugged my shoulders, with a 'I don't know', lol. Please don't hate me!

And this is a picture taken by the professional photographer that was on hand. I see some serious airbrushing going on.
Photobucket
I was actually really surprised at how much some people could eat. I mean people had plates PILED with chicken and rice and who knows what else. And, no lie, people where actually standing there, eating, by the buffet table, not letting other people through, just waiting for more food to come so they could grab it. It was madness.

Becoming Luscioulsy Light

The start of summer usually means one thing for me: getting back into shape and becoming more fit (especially this year, where I spent the winter months wrapped in a blanket, in front of the TV)! Usually, I fail pretty badly, but this year, I have help from the lovely girls at Aussie.
To tie in with the release of their new lightweight conditioner, Aussie want to help us Angels become lusciously light (in a healthy way, of course) and lighten up our lives. I'm going for a lighter self, so will be de-cluttering and de-stressing my life.

Their aim is to make us healthy and I'm taking part in this as much as I can. I sorta turned into a hermit this winter, so my room is a mess, and I might have eaten one too many Kit Kats (but they're sooooo good).
To start with, I thought a clean up of my closet was a must. I've just been throwing things in and everything just fell out last week; you might have seen the panicked twitpic I sent. If not: here it is:

Photobucket

I decided that cleaning my closet was a good way to declutter and lighten up my life. Lots went to charity and my closet actually closes now (hurray).

Next step is to get more in shape. This is where it gets hard for me. I'm really lazy these days: think Homer Simpson, but without a job, lol.
To help out, Aussie sent us a team shirt, so that we can look the part while we get into shape.

Photobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Aussie have also been sending us motivational videos, to keep us on track. They uploaded the first one, which is full of cool and easy excercises to do at home.

Aussie's Lusciously Light Videos: Part 1 from 1000heads on Vimeo.

My next step is to eat healthier. We grow strawberries, plums and cherries in our garden during the summer, so I'm waiting for those to come through, so I can start eating. And it's nearly Mango season, so I'm happy to finally get to eat them again (Mangos and strawberries are my favourite fruits). Expect a few twitpics of colourful fruit salads, which I'll be snacking on.

How are you all getting into shape for the summer? Share your tips and I'll keep you updated on how I'm getting along.

Wagah border

Everytime I go to Pakistan, I try to visit the India/Pakistan border, but I never got the chance. When I saw that Tanvi visited the border, from the Indian side, I was encouraged to go.
Tensions were a bit high as it was just after the cricket semi final match, so India were smug and Pakistan was trying to intimidate, hehe.

We knew a guy who knew a guy, so we were in the VIP seating area, right at the front, where everything was happening.
The atmosphere was actually amazing. It was a tad too patriotic for me, but it was a lot of fun to see. There was also an old man yelling and another guy with drums.

Photobucket

We got there at the right time and managed to catch one of the ceromonies taking place, where they open the gate and lower the 2 flags. The ceromony was actually amazing. The Pakistani Soldiers stomped around and paraded a lot and I'm guessing the Indian Soldiers did the same, on their side. It's meant to be a form of intimidation, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket
Like I said: lots of stomping. I can't imagine how bad Soldiers knees and legs get over time.

It was great seeing the gates open and then the crowds cheering and seeing who's louder. It's also weird to see that only one line dictates where one country ends and another starts, and I really felt that the 2 countries are so close that there's no point behind all the rivalry between them.

Photobucket
Photobucket
You can see them lower the flags in the above picture.

I didn't wear the outfit below to the border, but I realised that I hadn't treated you guys to any traditional outfits that I wore, while there. A scarft type thing is the 3rd part of the outfit, but I discarded it at some point.

Matalan Style Project: I Need YOU

As you know, I am never one to shy away from a challenge. I like to face them head on, so when Matalan asked if I'd like to take part in a bloggers challenge, I jumped at the chance. They asked us to style an outfit around the theme 'florals', from Matalan, and this is my entry:

Photobucket

I decided on a floral dress and bag, a cardigan with floral detailings and pair of nude pumps.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Now is the bit where I ask you, my lovely readers, to help me out. What would a competition be without winners, right? You can vote for me, to be the winner, here, on the Matalan Blog. All you have to do is leave a comment on their post.

Photobucket

One of my favourite bloggers (Laura) is also taking part, so I do have some tough competition!

Sherin xx

P.S. Just been going over comments over the last few days. I've realised a lot of questions and sorry for not answering them. I'm pretty bad answering questions left in comments!!
Umm, I was asked if I worked...nope, I'm on the job hunt. And was also asked how I get to attend press events. I usually get invites straight to my inbox. If you do have any questions, ever, just give me an email. I'm much better responding to emails!

Chilling in Pakistan

So, I finally managed to get my holiday pictures sorted. I ended up having to print them out from somewhere, and then scanning them back into my computer. Anyway, there are only 3 posts, so hopefully they won't bore you too much!

This was one of my favourite outfits. The dress is from River Island (new favourite item in my wardrobe), and I paired it with skinny trousers from HandM. The scarf is my feeble attempt at modesty. The whole dress/skinny jeans/scarf look was my main look while I was on holiday.

Photobucket

My dad is a huge golfer, and he only visits Pakistan for 3 days a year, and those 3 days are usually spent at the 'Lahore Gymkhana', which is probably Pakistan's most prestigious Golf Club. In my opinion it's the best place in Pakistan because it doesn't feel like you're actually in Pakistan! It is really beautiful and all the flowers and scenery is amazing.

Photobucket
Photobucket
(with my parents)

That smile is genuine. We went there for breakfast all 3 days (my fav meal), and I was very happy to have some proper toast and amazing fried eggs. They were delicious!
The Gymkhana is also a top hotel, so if you ever find yourself in Lahore, I'd recommend it.

Outfit: Cousin's Birthday

I wore this to my cousin's birthday a few weeks back. We're really close, so it was the perfect opportunity to dress up. The weather was beautiful, so we spent the whole afternoon relaxing in the garden. By the way, it is great being able to do outfit shots outside again!

Photobucket

I decided on skinny jeans, and nice top and heels. My shoes are from Priceless and the pretty top is River Island. Prepare to see a lot of it this summer. My jeans are from a Pakistani brand, called StoneAge. I have to admit: they probably do the best jeans in the world. They fit so well and I alway buy a pair (or 2) when I visit. I need them to open up in London!!

Photobucket
Photobucket

What do you think of my necklace? It's from Police and I absolutely loved it. It was in a goody bag from a press day and I'll probably be wearing it a lot.

Photobucket

How are all of you? What's everyone been upto? I love being nosey.

Polaroid Sunglasses

So, every now and then, little peeks of sun have been popping up here and there, causing the need to occassional sunglasses wear.
My sunglasses collection is pretty dire, if I'm honest, and until recently, only consisted of a pair which I 'borrowed' from my dad. My aim for this summer was to get more sunglasses, which I can look cool in throughout the summer.

When Polaroid offered to send me a pair, I couldn't resist. I've always been drawn to large sunglasses and these were so perfect.

Photobucket
Thanks Susie for the Picture!

They're clearly very well made and the brownish tinge definitely protects my eyes from the sun. So many sunglasses these days have black glass on them, so it's nice to have a brown pair as it's something different.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The weather in London has become really beautiful again, so it's lovely to hang around in parks and relax, wearing beautiful sunglasses, and these Polaroid ones are perfect. They're really comfortable to wear and are so sturdy. These are definitely a pair that will last a long time.

I also met up with Susa, with Susie, yesterday. It's so much fun to meet other bloggers, and she was so lovely. Susie and I also bought matching Marc by Marc Jacob bracelets, hehe. That's what blogger bff's are there for!
