Fashion News 04/08/2012

I've had a great week this week. I interviewed a few actors, spent tons of times with friends (with a few nights out added in there) and I even manage to make it to Hyde Park to see some Olympic footage in an amazing atmosphere. There were large screens showing coverage, and the vibe was brilliant, especially when Great Britain won a few of the swimming heats.

All that fun did mean that my email inbox was ignored for a lot of the week. While sorting through it this morning, I found some gems, so I thought I'd share them with you.

Free People:
I usually get Free People's lookbooks, but this month, they're especially fantastic. I really loved that they featured beaded bracelets from the charity Relate Trust. You'll be able to buy the bracelets from FreePeople, and for every bracelet sold, $1 goes to the 'United Against Malaria' Campaign.

Triumph Inspirational Awards:
I've been a follower of the TIA's for the last two years, so I'm excited to announce that global voting is open again, until the 23rd August 2012. You'll be able to vote for entries from around the world, and British hopeful, Sian Whitefoot has a particularly amazing design. There are 31 finalists nominated and the theme this year is 'Dragons and Butterflies'. Alongside public votes, a team of experts are also on the jury, from Hong Kong based actress Karen Mok to Jenson Buttons girlfriend Jessica Michibata, and even Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani.

You can vote here and one lucky voter will also win a trip to Shanghai, where the final takes place in October.

Tyler Alexandra:
I've come across this amazing handbag designer and am in awe of how pretty some of the pieces are. The bags are already well known in the celebrity world, in New York, and are now available to buy in the UK. Tyler Alexandra does gorgeous bags and they have a trademark of winged edges.

The bags come in a wide range of colours and materials, with each bag named after family members.

St Martin's Courtyard:
I've been impressed with London this summer. There have been amazing events and pop ups all over the city and St Martin's Courtyard is the latest to do something amazing. They will transform the Courtyard (in Coven Garden) into an Silent Cinema open air movie theatre. This pop up will go one for two days, with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel being screened on the 8th August, at 8pm, and Cinema Paradiso, being screened on the 9th at 8pm.

You will get wireless headphones to watch these films, and you'll be able to book directly in advance at one of the restaurants, so you get dinner and a movie, with great seats. There'll be great food on hand from the resident restaurants, such as Dishoom, Bills, Dalla Terra and Suda.

Follow SMC Twitter too for updates, and the chance to win tickets.
