The Business of Fashion

I recently came across this, and found it really interesting. I seriously can't believe just what the impact of fast fashion had on the world. I've been buying more quality and staple pieces, that are lasting me longer, rather than cheaper pieces from the likes of Primark that only last me a season, if that.

I studied this during my MBA studies. Personally, I'm a fan of fast fashion for trendy items; but when it comes to classic pieces {like handbags or shoes} I definitely opt for higher end brands. :)

It's true (fast) fashion these days seem to be less timeless because of the over abundance of it, so much excess! It's best to choose wisely. I still have garments from my youth, in great condition... it always comes back around again for the most part.

That's been my game plan for the last couple of years as well. Say no to fast fashion. It is like throwing money in to the toilet.

I believe this! Nowadays, I tend to buy classic pieces which have the potential to last me a long time and a few very cheap trendy pieces because I know these won´t last for long.

Great video! I've definitely tried to cut down on fast fashions because I did see myself donating SO many clothes at the end of the year and thinking I could probably save $$ by investing in pieces. I rationalize purchases at H&M because they now have the recycling program but I won't shop at Forever 21 because they're the worst. Zara is also harsh on their turn arounds so factory workers work insane hours just so they can have a pair of pants in stores within days of the runway. Not worth it to me.

But I like the idea that the TopShop CEO said "let fashion breathe." Definitely agree.
